Dog Lessons to Use... | Shawna Schuh

We are six weeks in to the new year. How’s it going for you?
One thing that keeps me going is my pup, Kingston. He’s a German Shepard, my first. I’m finding him to be smart, kind, comical and wonderful.
So today I thought I would share a couple of quotes about dogs that may delight you as much as they did me.
From Doris Day of all people. A movie star from days gone by that knew this truth.
“I have found that when you are deeply troubled, there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source.”
So true for me and maybe you. I don’t spend a lot of time deeply troubled. However I have down days, stressful days, and days that I don’t call stellar. On those days, it’s wonderful to have warm bodies covered in fur, wet kisses and wiggly bodies so excited to see me.
I’m rarely lonely because there are living spirits that want me to come home, that want me to be well, that want to be fed! Isn’t that the truth about dogs, and cats and horses and all our pets?
Here’s another quote by that popular author, “Unknown.”
“One reason a dog can be such a comfort when you’re feeling blue is that he doesn’t try to find out why.”
What I adore about this quote is sometimes, in these cold late winter days, you just feel down. There really isn’t any reason, and it doesn’t matter why, and a dog loves you anyway.
This is the most important message of this week: A dog loves you anyway.
How amazing and wonderful is this? When you are feeling down, deeply troubled, even slightly blue, remember please that a dog, cat, horse, bird or fish, love you anyway.
